Program Description

Event Details

Join us for Young Hoosier Book Club for grades 3-5! Every month, we will meet and discuss one of the Young Hoosier Intermediate Nominated books. Each month we will rate the book on a scale of 1-5. In April, our ratings will be submitted to the Young Hoosier Book Award Committee.

This month, we will be reading "Maple's Theory of Fun" by Kate McMillan and Ruthie Prillaman. Sixth grade has been pretty disaster-free for aspiring astronaut Maple McNutt—which is impressive, given the number of worries and possible catastrophes that run through her head every day. (So far, Earth hasn’t been devoured by a black hole and a cockroach hasn’t crawled out of her toothpaste mid-squeeze. Phew!) But when her best friend of seven-point-two years, Sunny Gwon, accuses her of being unfun and starts hanging around with a new group of friends, Maple hatches a plan to win Sunny back.
