Are you a creative? (Of any kind - writer, artist, sculptor, actor, etc. - everyone is welcome!) Do you need a space to mull over ideas, get feedback on your work, or get help sparking new ideas? This is the place for you! Join us for a Creative Jam Sesh with The Venturous Guild of Visionary Storysmiths (VGVS) full of creativity games, art and writing prompts, and brain-boosting challenges! And of course, we'll have snacks to fuel your creativity.
Please feel free to come with any piece of art or writing that you've been working on!
About VGVS: The Venturous Guild of Visionary Storysmiths (VGVS) is an international creative collective committed to growing a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative community of empowered artists. We are a nonprofit organization that provides free resources, workshops, mentorship, and safe spaces for creators to hone their skills, build their confidence, and share their stories!
About Angie: Angie Tonucci is a freelance writer, editor, web designer, and public relations manager working primarily with creative artists, nonprofits, and small independent businesses. She studied psychology and theatre arts at Virginia Tech, Italian language at Istituto Venezia, and communications and linguistics at University of Illinois Springfield. She has spent two decades working with kids, teens, and young adults via humane education programs, AVID tutoring, and Americorps youth mentorship with the Girl Scouts of America and the Boys and Girls Club of Central Illinois. Originally from the southeast coast of Virginia, she moved to Springfield, IL in 2010 where she hosted a creative writing club for teens from 2016 until the pandemic hit in 2020. Virtual Zoom workshops transformed her little local club into a massive online community of writers, artists, musicians, and other creators from all over the world! Now living in the Indianapolis area, she organizes Indy VGVS chapter events such as open mics, arts shows, and social meetups. She's looking forward to working with local libraries to add more workshops and other programming for kids and teens!
Open to ages 11-19, grades 6-12. Registration is required!
