The first rule of Silent Book Club is we don't talk at Silent Book Club (well, we do, just a little...read on for more details)
Have you wanted to join a book club but didn't want the pressure of having to talk to other people? Do you hate being told what to read even more as an adult than you did in high school? Are you trying to fit more reading into your life but know it won't happen unless you make an appointment for it and don't have the distractions of home and phone to pull you away? Then this is the book club for you!
Rules for Silent Book Club (aka Introverts Book Club):
1) See above
2) Arrive 15-20 minutes early, around 6:10-6:15pm, to get comfy, (optionally) chat with fellow book club members about their books, and settle in with a beverage.
3) At 6:30pm, begin reading. Silently. For one hour.
4) Stick around for 15-20 minutes afterwards for (optional) socializing and discussion.
5) Read whatever you want.
For ages 18 and up (ages 14 and up with a participating adult).
Registration is recommended. Walk-ins will still be welcome if there is space to accommodate them. If there are fewer than 5 registrations 24 hours before the event, the event will be cancelled and registered patrons will be notified.
The library makes every effort to ensure our programs can be enjoyed by all. If you have any concerns about accessibility or need to request specific accommodations, please contact the library.
