Imagine a day when you could clean house and get rid of clutter, show someone that you care, give small things to strangers, and generally make the world a better place. YES, this day does exist....
...it's National Give Something Away Day!
Stop by the library any time between 10 AM and 6 PM on Wednesday, July 15th and pick up a FREE bag with a craft and surprises to take home! (What's in the bag, you ask? We can't tell you -- that would ruin the surprise -- but we can tell you that no two bags are exactly the same!)
One thing you'll find in each bag will be some origami paper and instructions to make a crane. An ancient Japanese legend says that whoever folds 1000 cranes (senbazuru) will be granted a wish by the gods. Today, the crane is a symbol of health, healing, and good luck. Of course, you don't have to fold 1000 cranes, but you might like to fold several to give away to friends and family (and even strangers) as a wish for happiness. They are sure to bring a smile!
Registration is required so we'll know how many TAKE & MAKE bags to prepare. Have fun and have a happy Give Something Away Day!
Parents please note: Each surprise bag includes a wood craft with small parts and sharp pieces suitable for ages 5 and up. Please plan accordingly!
