This 90 minute workshop will touch on 4 important topics of finance.
Consumer Borrowing - Learn how to borrow responsibly! You'll learn the basics of borrowing – starting with how credit and debt affect your ability to borrow. We’ll also examine the difference between good debt and bad debt, explore strategies for using credit effectively, and teach you how to parse loan terminology. We’ll also teach you how to calculate your debt-to-income ratio, highlight the warning signs of excessive debt, and empower you to take a proactive role in monitoring and managing your credit.
Credit Cards - We’ll help you determine when you might need a credit card and help you assess whether you’re ready to take on a line of credit. You’ll explore how credit cards work, and become familiar with credit card terminology to help you evaluate potential offers. We’ll also walk you through strategies for managing your credit cards and share tools to help you determine a timeline for paying off credit card debt. Finally, we’ll discuss the risks involved in opening a credit card, the effect your credit use has on your credit score, and how to recognize excessive debt.
Budgeting - Beginning with the basics, you’ll learn why budgeting is important to your financial wellness and key budget components. Then, we’ll guide you through the first steps to creating your own budget so that you can be well prepared for the future. You’ll also learn tips and tricks to help you make the most of your funds including how to reduce expenses and best practices for saving.
Debt Management - Struggling under a mountain of debt? It doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Learn about the different types of debt and how they can affect your lifestyle, as well as learn how to recognize your own relationship with debt and spending. We’ll help you understand how your debt works, and discuss various strategies you can use to help manage it and, eventually, become debt free.
